Is it necessary for college students to greet their teachers before class?

Being influenced by American education, I think demanding students' to give more respect and obedience to their teachers is not helpful for students' innovation. In America, teachers appreciate students who have independence and innovation and like to keep an equal partnership with them. The relationship between teachers and students is influenced by several factors, including class size and teaching methods. Respect means listening carefully and actively asking questions.
